Water dams are designed to accomplish a varity of functions, which includes flood control, flat water recreation, hydropower Electricity Generation and water supply. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is one of the provinces that has a variety of Natural Resources and Fertile Land and has a dire need of Dams to be constructed in order to become self sufficient in producing Agriculture Products, Flood Control and Generate Power.
Work on Dams started in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in this area by the Britishers in 1917 and it was pending due to scarcity of funds by the concerned quarters and main concern of security was always a hurdle in the development of DAMs. Later on Gomal Zam Zam and Munda Dam also came into consideration.
Mr. Kiramat Ullah Khan Chagharmati Speaker, Provincial Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who has played a key role in the development activities of the Province & untraditionally has shown keen interest in the Construction of these three DAMs outside the constituency. The construction of DAMS triggered a bitter Controversy among the Provinces of the Country and expressed their dissatisfaction.
The controversies did not affect the activities and efforts made by Hon’able Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the big ask. He called several meetings including the higher concerned Authorities and then locals of the concerned area. He tried every possible way to convince the locals of the concerned area on the clearance of Old Liabilities and the compensation of payments to the land owners. He also kept the security measures in mind and assured the concerned quarters through the Political Agent on the availability of full proof security in the project area.
Keeping the whole challenging situation and hurdles in view, the Speaker Provincial Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa succeeded in bringing life to the Climaterical projects that needed their attention and devotion for the betterment of this Province.
