History of the Women Parliamentary Caucus in KP (2016–2025)
Women Parliamentary Caucus was established in the Provincial Assembly of KhyberPakhtunkhwa in the first PTI-led government through a joint resolution passed by the Assembly in 2015 supported by women legislators across party lines, including Nagina Khan, Rashida Riffat, Nargis Ali, Romana Jalil, and Zareen Riaz, and it was formally inaugurated in April, 2016 under a vision to create a just and inclusive society in KP where women’s rights are respected, protected, and promoted through effective legislation and policy-making.
The KP Women Parliamentary Caucus aimed to create a unified platform for women legislators to collaborate on advancing gender equality and women’s rights in the province. It was formally established to serve as a cross-party platform for women legislators. Its primary aim is to empower women parliamentarians, enhance their legislative and oversight capacities, and promote gender-responsive governance in the province.
